Michael Butler

Michael is currently an independent Consultant to the global satellite communications industry, and an occasional Advisor to private and public equity investors involved in it. He also serves as an Independent Director on the board of AddValue Technologies, a Singapore listed business involved in the design, production and integration of broadband user terminals for the Mobile Satellite Services industry.

Until May 2009, Michael served as President & Chief Operating Officer of Inmarsat PLC, the global leader in the MSS sector, and was an Executive Director of the Inmarsat Board between 2003 and 2009.  He also represented Inmarsat for many years at the European Satellite Operators Association (ESOA), and Chaired the organisation during 2006/7.

Prior to joining Inmarsat, Michael served as Managing Director of the UK Operating Company of MCI WorldCom. This represented the culmination of a 12 year career in the UK Telco sector which included a variety of increasingly senior roles in Sales & Marketing, Business Development, Customer Service & Operations, firstly at BT, then the 1993 start-up MFS Communications, subsequently acquired by MCI WorldCom.

Michael holds an HNC in Business & Finance, and a Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.  He is a British National, resident in the U.K.
