Senior Manager - Pricing

  • Job Purpose

  • The role is for heading the pricing function at Thuraya. It involves contributing towards developing and implementing pricing strategies for Thuraya’s products and services. Responsible for generation of pricing ideas, evaluation, price development, approval, implementation, launch, and monitoring of pricing initiatives with the objective of improving Thuraya’s market position and promoting pricing efficiency and improvements.
  • Principal Accountabilities

    • Drive strategic pricing initiatives that are best aligned with the overall revenue objectives; assess impact and effectiveness of current pricing practices; determine best pricing practices alternatives.
    • Leverage to develop and execute sound pricing strategies, bundling and packaging that will differentiate Thuraya and gain competitive edge over other offers in the market.
    • Develop jointly with the Product Managers and internal departments the pricing for new products, services, and promotions that will result to better overall revenues, margins, and market share.
    • Analyze of market trends, needs, customer behavior and profiles, and internal information (such as subscriber, traffic, call patterns, revenues) with the help of concerned internal departments in order to identify and promote pricing changes and improvements.
    • Coordinate with internal departments for the technical feasibility, timely implementation, and communication of pricing initiatives.
    • Prepare presentations of various pricing initiatives and recommendations and deliver the presentation to the Pricing Committee.
    • Prepare pricing documents containing the complete pricing structure and elements (pricing, parameters, business rules, and provisioning) of each price plan or promotion.
    • Monitor performance of existing price plans and ongoing promotions and evaluate for improvements/extension or for exiting of non-performing/non-relevant price offerings.
    • Gather intelligence on competitors’ pricing and provide relevant recommendations and effective solutions to ensure that Thuraya’s pricing remains competitive.
    • Hold pricing orientation sessions for various internal departments with the objective of educating relevant staff on various pricing initiatives, pricing updates as well as the pricing position of Thuraya against competition.
    • Support internal departments on pricing queries, requests for pricing reports, and other pricing-related requirements.
    • Manage the performance of the team and proactively support employee development initiatives. 
  • Knowledge Skills and Experience

    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in telecommunication pricing functions with at least 5 years of experience in managing the entire Pricing function.
    • Pricing management skills: price plan modeling and development, price communication, understanding of billing and traffic routing in the Telecommunications market.
    • Process and business skills: end-to-end pricing process from pricing generation to commercial launch and monitoring, costing methodologies, financial modeling.
    • Solution skills: capable of understanding sophisticated challenges quickly and to develop and evaluate alternative solutions independently.
    • Innovation skills: manage the creative process of others, can facilitate effective brainstorming, has good judgment about which creative ideas and suggestions will work, can project how potential ideas may play out in the market, brings creative ideas to market.
    • Customer focus skills: is dedicated to meet the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Get first-hand customer information and uses it for improvement of pricing offers. Acts with customers in mind. 
    • Must have a strong intellectual curiosity, with a passion for problem-solving: creative, comfortable with ambiguity and willing to challenge traditional thought or historical assumptions and conventions.
    • Keen business judgment.  Must be capable of understanding the big picture and the strategic context while engaged in operational or financial analysis
