Regional Director – Asia

  • Job Purpose

  • The role involves Business Development and Account Management activities to be carried out in the Asia region. It includes identifying, acquiring and managing Service Partners and Business Partners within the Asia region. The role encompasses management and support of Service Partners; defining and implementing the marketing plan and customers’/Service Partners’ strategy to ensure that Thuraya commercial objectives are achieved. This role will also be responsible for the development and execution of the strategy for market and business development of Thuraya’s products and services. Other core responsibility areas include: Identification of market opportunities, development of the market entry strategy; Identification and acquisition of SPs and business partners, providing start-up support for SPs and business partners: setting up the regional office; Operations- Marketing Plan and Customers/SP Strategy Definition and implementation, Management and Support of service Providers, Identification of Market Opportunities, Support of Product and service Development and People development; Develop weekly, monthly and status reports of key developments and recommendations. The key focus countries/markets shall include China, Indonesia, Australia and the maritime.
  • Role and Responsibilities

    • Develop the customer/SP and market strategy aimed to explore the market opportunities and increase Thuraya revenues.
    • Coordinate development of Marketing Plan and Marketing Program across CD departments – including Product Management and Development, Marketing Services and Sales Support and Customer Care.
    • Manages implantation of Marketing Program in Marketing and Sales department making sure that the marketing Program objectives and revenue targets are met.
    • Assure that the Marketing & Sales Department is utilizing all available technologies & methods in its pursuit of its sales and profit objectives.
    • Manage and caches Marketing and Sales Mangers in order to achieve objectives and targets of assigned segment (region).
    • Participates in applicable exhibitions / trade shows and conferences as necessary.
    • Assist the VP Commercial with the development and maintenance of relationship and alliances with vertical and or strategic accounts to the extent of promoting the goodwill of the company and serve its interests best.
    • Assist in the implementation of the policies, procedures necessary to being recognized for superior customer satisfaction.
    • Displays the overall understanding of Thuraya products and services, processes and capabilities in order to adequately represent the company to new and existing customers.
    • Helps to manage the Service Providers base to appropriately explore priority markets (support of top performers, re-use of best practices) and to use organization resources efficiently (termination of not-performing SPs).
    • Appoint new Service Providers based on analysis of their financial stability, business performance and potential contribution to Thuraya business following the acquisition process and approval stages.
    • Assists in the Strategic Alliances management, including identification of needs and appropriate strategic partners. Conduct due diligence of potential partners. Communicate with partners at the business most senior level. Performs major contracts negotiation if needed.
    • Assess the key commercial opportunities and manages the preparation of business plan for such opportunities. Presents the business plans to management for consideration and decision-making.
    • Define the organization, roles and responsibilities.
    • Identify adequate office space in coordination with Admin Department.
    • Plan and set-up the office infrastructure.
    • Coordinate with HRD to enforce “Company” HR policy.
    • Coordinate with HRD department to hire and train staff Through.
    • Adaptation and implementation of processes to ensure a professional communication and cooperation with the Head Office and Serve Providers.
    • Manage and coaches Sales Managers in order to identify and grow leaders, reward exceptional performance and support people development.
    • Together with supervisor, identifies own development needs and participate in appropriate training and educational sessions in order to increase own capabilities and work efficiency.
    • Assures that the sales pursuit is conducted in manner conducive to good and acceptable behavior within the country of operation, and operate within the laws and regulations of all local jurisdictions in the country of operation within the coverage area.
  • Knowledge Skills and Experience

    • At least 10 years of related experience in selling, marketing and customer management; 
    • Excellent knowledge of the Asian market; 
    • Satellite Communication/Telecommunications experience, 
    • Ability to deliver against set work objective and sales targets. 
    • Strong Technical aptitude – ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.
    • Strong Problem solving skills – brings a problem solving mindset to any challenging situation. 
    • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams 
    • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal negotiation skills. 
    • Possess a strong communication, report writing and presentation skills. 
    • Experienced at managing diverse and geographically remote teams. 
    • Ability to manage team and individual performance, ability to foster a healthy work environment through employee motivation and support. 
    • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, both written and orally. 
    • Knowledge of the local languages at the regional offices is an advantage.
