When will it be available?
SKYPHONE by Thuraya is expected to be available from Q3 2024.
Customers can use a Mobile Network Operator (MNO) SIM card from any of the 370+ Thuraya Roaming Partners across over 170 countries worldwide to use the phone in terrestrial and satellite mode. Alternatively, Thuraya satellite SIM cards can also be obtained from Thuraya Service Partners.
SKYPHONE by Thuraya features 3 rear cameras and 1 front camera, with the main rear camera boasting 50MP.
The new smartphone is expected to be available through Thuraya’s distribution partners from Q3 2024.
The SKYPHONE by Thuraya is an everyday smartphone with the addition of satellite calls and satellite SMS capability. That means if you are out of terrestrial coverage, you can still enjoy calls and messages in satellite mode, making it an ideal companion when trekking in remote areas, venturing through a desert, or sailing at sea.
The SKYPHONE by Thuraya will have two nano-SIM slots which allow for many combinations of usage scenarios, whichever is easiest for you in your home country. The smartphone can be used in satellite mode with mobile operator SIM cards from any of the 370+ Thuraya Roaming Partners across over 170 countries worldwide. Alternatively, you can purchase a Thuraya satellite SIM card from any of the Thuraya Service Partners.
The SKYPHONE has a built-in satellite antenna that is not visible from the outside when not in use. For a satellite call or SMS, the antenna should be fully extended; it is located at the top of the phone and can be extended by pushing the button in.
The SKYPHONE by Thuraya is based on the Android 14 OS.
The smartphone features a Qualcomm Octa-core Kryo processor for high performance and speed. It is built to provide reliability with an IP67 rating, making the smartphone dust and waterproof, and has a 6.67” AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass. More specifications will be released closer to the product launch.
The SKYPHONE by Thuraya supports terrestrial 5G, 4G, 3G, 2G frequency bands for worldwide terrestrial coverage as well as two-thirds of the world via Thuraya’s satellite coverage across Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia.
